Mae Sai Border, Golden Triangle

Heading towards Mae Sai, the northernmost tip of Thailand and one of the border checkpoints between Thailand and Myanmar.

The border post. Thais pay 40THB to get a day's borderpass. No need for passports. Other nationals pay 500THB. No thanks.

Hundreds of stalls around the checkpoint. Some Myanmar stuff, but mostly Chinese foods , electronic and clothing knockoffs, disappointingly. (A part of China is just 20km from the border too, apparently).

The Golden Triangle, Ladies and Gentlemen. May not look like much but here's where three nations are separated by a river. On the right is Laos, towards the left is Myanmar and we are of course in Thailand, thankfully. Wanted to take more and clearer shots but the heavens opened.

So we ran... here's a giant Buddha a few hundred metres down the road.

Laos just across the river.

This temple (I cannot remember where) has a solid gold Buddha idol.
